AC (acromioclavicular) joint separation

A strain or rupture of the ligament between the clavicle (collar bone) and the shoulder. The injury is graded 1-6, with Grade 6 involving the most damage to the ligament and the surrounding structures. The most common way of injuring the ligament is falling on the shoulder, elbow, or onto an outstretched hand.
