Inflammation of the cervix that can be caused by an infection, a chemical irritant or an allergic reaction. The cervix is the end of the uterus. Common organisms include gonorrhea, Chlamydia, herpes, genital warts or trichomonas. Chemical irritation or allergic reactions are commonly in response to latex condoms or spermicide.
