Body dysmorphic disorder (body appearance obsession)

Characterized by an excessive preoccupation with a real or imagined defect in a patient's physical appearance. The cause of this disorder is not known but felt to represent a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Body dysmorphic disorder can lead to anxiety, phobias, and depression, sometimes with suicidal thoughts and actions.
