Adjustment disorder (poor adjustment to life stressor)

A response to stress that results in significant emotional or behavioral symptoms and impairment of function in daily life. The disorder typically causes symptoms of depression, anxiety or both. In severe cases patients may have suicidal thoughts. The symptoms begin within 3 months of a stressful life event.
