Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD)

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is the excessive growth and activity of cells lining medium sized blood vessels causing the area to become narrow. The most common arteries affected are the arteries in the kidneys. The arteries of the brain, limbs, lungs and heart can also be affected. The condition is most common in women of child-bearing age.
