Herpangina (mouth blisters)

Herpangina is a viral illness that most commonly affects young children. Children usually complain of fever and sore throat. The sore throat is the result of tiny painful blisters on the soft palate. The disease usually resolves on its own with only symptomatic treatment. Coxsackie A is the name of the virus that most commonly causes herpangina. The disease is most often seen in the summer months.
