About Meclizine

How it works

Meclizine is an antihistamine with anticholinergic properties that acts on the vestibular system in the inner ear. By blocking H1-receptors and muscarinic receptors, it reduces the sensitivity of the labyrinthine apparatus and inhibits the vomiting center in the brain. This helps to decrease the dizziness, nausea, and vomiting associated with motion or vestibular disturbances.

Dosage

For motion sickness, typically 25-50 mg taken one hour before travel.
