About Naproxen

What it is for

Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for long-term treatment of osteoarthritis and chronic inflammatory rheumatism, as well as for acute post-traumatic musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhea, and lower back pain.

How it works

Naproxen inhibits the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemical messengers that trigger inflammation, pain, and fever in the body. By reducing the production of these messengers, naproxen effectively lowers inflammation and relieves pain.

Dosage

Usually 250-500 mg twice daily; take with food to minimize stomach irritation and do not exceed the maximum daily limit specified on the package.
